Resilience Matters

We know that more than being smart or fast or nice, success depends on personal characteristics like:

·      grit

·      respect

·      teamwork

·      self-control

·      resilience

Fencing teaches all these things and more.

Fencing is a new experience for most kids, and no one is "a natural".

Learning to fence means learning to focus, learning to pay attention to your opponent, to respect the referee and coaches, and most importantly -  learning to fail and think of failure as feedback on how to move forward.

All kids can benefit from learning to fence, yet most kids never get any exposure to fencing because it is expensive. Girls and kids from minority backgrounds are even less likely to have any exposure to the sport.

En Garde! Souderton was created so every kid in the Souderton Area can learn and fence for free.

Your support is needed to fund the 2024 - 25 year. Please donate below.

Is there someone in your life who helped you develop life skills like:

·      grit

·      respect

·      teamwork

·      self-control

·      resilience

Recognize them this holiday season by making a gift in their honor. Fencing helps kids develop valuable life skills.  Make a donation in their honor!  If you would like, we will send that honoree a personal card telling them you donated in their honor with a message from one of the children in our program!
